Drought conditioning of soil microbial communities to aid restoration in the Pilbara

Drought exerts a strong influence on plant performance and can severely limit ecological restoration. While drought may negatively impact certain soil microbes, it may also select for soil biota that improve drought tolerance in plants. This is especially important for ecological regions highly dependent on rainfall, such as the Pilbara of Western Australia.

Client:

Curtin University

Research Objective:

To determine if soil microbes could be utilized to improve plant performance in mine-site restoration, including under drought
