Sci-comm FAQ

How do we differ from other graphic designers?

Our motto is for scientists, by scientists. We are all active publishing scientists who also have backgrounds in design and art. Our team can interpret complex scientific concepts quickly without the need for excess back and forth. As active scientists, we stay on top of current scientific literature, which enables us to visualise your concepts accurately and innovatively.

How long does it take?

Depending on the type of project or design requirements, you should see initial design concepts or analysis results from within two-three weeks. We understand that researchers often have tight deadlines and so we can occasionally accommodate for quick turnarounds for an additional rush fee.

What is your typical design process?

Usually, we have an initial meeting to discuss your project and your main communication objectives. We will then mock up a rough figure based on this meeting and any additional materials you can provide us (e.g. journal articles, draft proposals, other similar diagrams or any sketches you have made, colour palettes). All of the materials you provide us are kept confidential.

We then provide you with the mock up and you can give us feedback via email or in a meeting. Usually additional rounds of edits are minimal because we are a team of working scientists who can accurately interpret and understand scientific research. This is really what sets us apart from other design agencies. After this, we can then flesh out the final product.

How much does it cost?

Our services range in cost depending on the complexity and the volume of the project. Once we know what you require we can provide you with a quote for the project so you don’t get any nasty surprises at the end. By the way, quotes are for free – just get in touch!

Do you provide services outside of Australia?

Yes, we do! We have worked with several researchers across Universities in Europe and welcome working with more!
